13th TRB National Transportation Planning Applications Conference

Every other year since 1987, hundreds of transportation planners from around the country and abroad have gathered to celebrate their successes, lament their challenges and share their experience at TRB's National Transportation Planning Applications Conference (www.trb-appcon.org).

The conference committee wants to invite you not only to attend but participate in the 13th conference next spring (May 8th-12th, 2011) in beautiful Reno, Nevada. The success of the conference depends on planners and engineers like you sharing their stories!

Therefore, the conference organizers are soliciting abstracts on any transportation planning topic, policy, procedural, or technical, including:

  • Air Quality and Climate Change - Modeling and Planning
  • Coalitions for Freight Planning and Non-Freight Commercial Vehicle Issues
  • Corridor Planning, NEPA. and Environmental Studies
  • Experiences and Innovations in Project Development and Implementation
  • Incorporating GIS in Transportation Planning
  • Innovative Local Funding Sources for Transportation - Taxes and Tolls
  • Integrated Transportation-Land Use Modeling and Planning for Smart Growth, Transit-Oriented-Design, and More
  • Measuring and Planning for Livability, Sustainability, & Environmental Justice
  • Operational Planning, ITS, and Traffic Microsimulation
  • Negotiating Challenging Legal Issues in Planning
  • Planning for use of Sustainable Mode Use: Transit, Biking and Walking
  • Public Involvement for Successful Projects and Visioning for Long Range Transportation Planning
  • Statewide Modeling and Planning for High Speed Rail and More
  • Transportation Data Collection and Management – Surveys, Counts and More
  • Travel Demand Modeling and Analysis - Advances in Practice
The conference will feature presentations chosen from abstract submittals that offer practical and innovative solutions to contemporary planning challenges. Please submit your abstracts of 350 words or less online at www.trb-appcon.org prior to September 15, 2010 and identify a general topic from the list above. Authors of accepted abstracts are encouraged but not required to prepare a complete paper. The abstract, presentation and paper will be posted online after the conference. Authors with best papers from the conference may be invited to re-present their paper in a session at the next TRB annual meeting.
